Plant Based Nutrition
For the past 15 or so years I’ve been a fairly health conscious eater limiting my red meat, fat and sugar intake. During this time my requirements (and therefore also those of savvy marketers) have evolved from cutting back on carbs, to using wild line caught fish, free range chicken, organic eggs, organic ingredients, local, non processed, non gmo, no growth hormones, no antibiotics and more, to then wanting to know not only how the food affected my health, but also the health of the planet and how humane it was raised and harvested. I wanted my food consumption to be health conscious, environmentally friendly and socially responsible. I was on the right path and each learning brought me to a new stage. Anyone on this path of food consciousness, in my opinion, will eventually be led to a whole foods, plant based diet. While most may not choose to go completely vegan, many will see the benefits of a plant based diet and will at least cut back on consuming animal products. So, for those interested I offer you my list of simple foods and dairy & meat alternatives that have helped me go (mostly) plant based. Additionally, I will include a few recipes/preparations for quick, easy and healthy meals, snacks and drinks. I hope you find this beneficial.
