weekend road trip…North SD County

I love where we live, the South Bay of Los Angeles.  With it’s clean, safe neighborhoods, beautiful beaches, decent surf, family friendly activities, great yoga studios and lots of healthy dining options, it’s pretty hard to beat.  Still, it’s nice to get out of the bubble, as it is often called, every once in a while.  So, this past weekend, with my wife’s blessing, I took a quick, solo road trip down to north San Diego County.  During my leisurely drive, I made stops in Laguna Beach, Carlsbad and Encinitas before ending up in La Jolla.  I love all of these towns and they each have so much more to offer than what I am sharing, but for what it’s worth, here are a few worthy highlights.

Laguna Beach:

Active Culture:   Cool spot for juices, smoothies, Acai bowls, savory bowls and other eats.  They have another location in San Clemente.

Carlsbad:

Totally passing through and stumbled upon…

Choice Juicery:  Love this cool looking, hip, plant based spot.  Maybe they’ll let me open one in Hermosa Beach?

Encinitas:  

Good Onya:  Healthy, hip, organic eatery near Swami’s.

Better Buzz:  Super hip coffee shop with an open air design.  I like that they carry Raw Juices.

Eve Encinitas:  I love my vegan cafes.

La Jolla:

Trilogy Sanctuary:  one of my favorite places.  Yoga + delicious, organic vegan fare… what’s not to love?

Beaming:  another cool organic juice, smoothie and superfood cafe.  They have several locations and I’ve been to the one in Santa Monica before.  Here’s how I live like Rockstar!

Again, I know I’m leaving out a ton of great places, but these should be on your must hit list.  Would love to hear your suggestions for my next trip down.
