Elemental Superfood Seedbar

“handmade in small batches”

You had me at Superfood! I discovered Elemental Superfood Seedbars about a year ago while running into Whole Foods, in a hurry (which is often the case), to pick up a quick, healthy snack and some sort of bottled green drink. There are only a few bars I’ll eat as most of them have a ton of sugar or have whey protein i.e. dairy. So I briefly looked at the ingredients of a few bars, grabbed an Elemental Superfood Seedbar on the fly and got back into my car. I scarfed it down pretty quickly, but not so quickly that I didn’t take notice of how delicious it was. I actually saved the wrapper because I wanted to reread the label when I had more time and of course when I wasn’t driving.

Upon reading I realized that the bars were made locally, very close to my home actually, and that the bars were created out of necessity by a mother of an autistic child, looking to feed her daughter delicious, clean foods that were free of sugar, dairy and wheat, (as well as pesticides, artificial ingredients etc). btw, most of us have an allergy, noticed or unnoticed, to one or more of these ingredients and many products have all three, the triple whammy. I was instantly a fan and have been enjoying them every since.

I contacted Nicole, the owner/mother, and suggested I do a review for my blog. I rarely do reviews, except for products I already know, love and trust. I prefer to keep the blog positive and upbeat. I was already a fan so this, I knew, would be a positive review, plus I was looking forward to trying all the other flavors, I had been stuck on the dark chocolate and peanut butter, I guess I know what I like!

I was sent a box of pure deliciousness, all 4 flavors of the superfood seedbars. They are all gluten free, raw (or mostly raw), dairy free and contain omegas 3 & 6. (They do have honey so if you’re a hardcore vegan, this may not be for you, sorry). All the ingredients are very recognizable real foods, like organic buckwheat, raw honey, organic almonds, organic flaxseeds, organic coconut, organic sunflower seeds, organic pumpkin seeds, organic Brazil nuts, organic sesame seeds, organic vanilla bean. It’s so refreshing not to have to google ingredients.

The four flavors are as follows:

Currant, Cacao & Hemp Seed (my new favorite)
Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter (my daughter’s favorite, no surprise there)
Mulberry, Cacao & Spirulina
Cranberry, Almond & Lucuma

I love all four flavors and highly recommending trying them all to find your favorite. Aside from being plant based, delicious, clean and healthy, they are sincerely made with love. As the back of the package says…

“This bar is the result of a long journey, and a labor of love. It is made with whole unprocessed organic foods. As the mother of a child with autism, I realized first hand the effects certain foods could have on my daughter’s wellbeing. With this awareness, I began to notice how much foods could affect myself as well as family, friends and other children around me. It has become my passion to create foods that everyone can enjoy-that fuel the body with energy, nutrition and sustainability.~ You are what you eat.~ Nicole.”

Here’s to Nicole, her daughter and the rest of her family. Great work, keep on doing what your doing!

Happy Mother’s Day to you Nicole and to all the other loving mothers out there, we appreciate you!

Thank you!
