Blueberry love & an awesome protein shake
My family and I recently went blueberry picking at Swift Creek Berry Farm here in good ole Virginia. It was a great outing and our little girl, Grace, had a blast….actually we all did!
She lasted quite a while and I think we picked almost 15 pounds of blueberries! This is pretty awesome as I love blueberries! We ate a ton of the fresh ones, gave some away and froze quite a bit. While the fresh ones are, of course, delicious I have no problem freezing them as I make a lot of shakes from frozen fruit. Here blueberry picking takes place in July and August, hopefully we’ll make one more run at it. I highly recommend it if this is something you’ve considered in the past. It’s fun for kids of all ages…and meditative too!
So this morning I made us some pretty awesome protein shakes. Measurements will vary depending on how many you make, but I usually make a whole blender full, one to drink for breakfast, then some for the whole family to drink throughout the day.
Today, I used:
almost 2 full, indulgent, cups of frozen blueberries
4 frozen bananas
2 large tablespoons of chia seeds
2 scoops of Sun Warrior Chocolate Protein Powder
1 tablespoon of raw almond butter (I used peanut butter today and that was quite tasty)
2 large handfuls of spinach (I was out of kale and spinach fit the bill)
Fill rest of blender with almond milk and/or non gmo soy milk. (I used both)
Blend. Drink some. Save some. Enjoy often. And if blueberry picking appeals to you, it’s time to go!
Great recipes! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Victoria. My blog is a work in progress and continually evolving, much like my wellness protocol. My intention is to share easy ways to incorporate more whole food, plant based foods into our lives. Glad you appreciate this. I wish you the best on your wellness journey!
Peace & plants:)
